The western tip of the island. Ahead lie Ilhéu de Ferro and Pico de Ana Ferreira; in good visibility you can make out the north coast of Madeira. The landscape is dominated by the dark tones of basalt rocks and coastal cliffs, a reminder of Porto Santo's volcanic origin. On the way, the Morenos area — very typical vegetation, tables, straw shelters and barbecues — invites a break; the Morenos geosite shows volcanic dykes ranging from volcanic, undersea lavas and dune sandstones bearing the root casts of vegetation some thirty thousand years old.
